An introduction to the three major genres of imaginative literature - poetry, drama, and fiction - and to writing about literature. The course includes a review of critical thinking and writing skills, and students learn to analyze, interpret, and explicate literary works. The course requires frequent writing assignments totaling a minimum of 8,000 words. (AA,CSU,UC) Prerequisite: ENGL 1001.
