MUS 1633 studies the development of jazz and popular music based on musical and sociocultural influences. The historical roots of American popular music will be examined and explored. The course begins by studying the source material for popular music and then explores each genre beginning with the Blues, Jazz, Rock, Country and Rap in nearly every form.
