Mammoth Mountain
Mammoth Mountain last weekend resulted in a 1st place finish on Saturday by Jon Villani in Boarder Giant Slalom and a second by Johnny Peralez. Our Boarder Girls finished 2nd with Rebecca Geries, 4th place finish by Kaylee Winkelman, and Fifth by Nina Akana. Of the 9 schools competing with over a hundred athletes, the COS Snowboard team out scored all others. Saturday's Skier Giant Slalom saw Jason Graves finish in sixth and Trent Brown eighth.
On Sunday, jason Graves finished 7th in Slalom.
Monday saw first time ever boardercross racer Nina Akana surprise everyone with a second place finish. Snowboarder Troy Haden finished Eighth. Our best Skiercross finish was Jason Graves with a 4th place.
Squaw Valley
The COS Ski and Snowboard team participated in their first competition this last week at Squaw Valley. The schools that participated in the competition were COS, Sierra Nevada College, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, Stanford and Sierra College. With only a short time for preparation, the team made a fantastic showing:
