Jackie Imhof pitched a compete game one hitter and Stephanie Zwetschke continued her sizzling hitting as the Eagles defeated Long Beach City College (16-7) in the championship game of the Bash at Buchanan this past weekend in Fresno.
With a 7-0 week and an 18-2 overall mark, Siskiyous softball is tied with Cypress College for the number one ranking in the entire state.
“I am extremely happy with this group,” coach Doug Eastman said. “They are extremely talented, never made excuses and took their responsibility and ran with it.”
Saturday, Siskiyous defeated Fresno 7-3, Chabot 8-0 and Moorpark 10-0.
Sunday, the Eagles came from behind to defeat Shasta 10-7 and took Long Beach 5-0 for the title.

Facing an elite pitcher against Long Beach who averages two strike outs per game, according to Eastman, Zwetschke and Katie Zauner each cleared the fence for a home run. The duo combined for four of the Eagles six hits in the game. “Stephanie is about as hot as you can get,” Eastman said of his clean up hitter.
Imhof (7-1) pitched all seven innings, striking out five and walking one. “Jackie got ahead of hitters and hit her spots. She pitched fantastic...her best game all year,” Eastman said.

The Eagles were down 7-2 heading into the fifth inning, but responded with four runs in the fifth and one in the seventh to tie it, before taking the lead with three runs in the eighth and final inning for the victory.
Eagles pitcher Becca Anderson settled down with three shut out innings after allowing a grand slam giving her teammates a chance to win it.
“It was the only game we didn't play real well,” Eastman said. “We had to respond being behind and that really showed their character.”
Outfielder Crislyn Chewning had three hits for the Eagles, Zwetschke hit another home run and scored three times and shortstop Ali Paz added two hits and a team high three RBI's.
Imhof closed out the game to earn the victory.
No-hitter vs. Redwoods
Imhof and Anderson combined on a five-inning no-hitter against Redwoods in Redding Wed., March 5 as the Eagles cruised to a 20-0 victory. Siskiyous also tallied 20 hits in the game.
Siskiyous defeated the Corsairs in game two of that double header 11-3 to start the GVC season 2-0.
The Eagles travel to Feather River tonight before moving to Fremont where they will participate in the March Madness Tournament this weekend.
“We're going to have to show some durability with 20 games in two weeks,” Eastman said. With as hot as they have been might as well get them in while they can.
Siskiyous home opener is scheduled for Fri., April 4 versus Lassen.
