Records Broken at Maurice Compton Invitational

April 21, 2010

Siskiyous Track and Field competed at one of the best facilities in the California this past weekend at Merritt, College in Oakland California.  Temperatures and a fast track were ideal for fast times, and Siskiyous did not disappoint.  Zach Stoner broke a 25 year old school record in the 400m with a time of 48.43, placing 2nd in the meet and firmly in 5th place in Nor-Cal.  Stoner briefly rested and completed a tough double as he ran the 800m a little over an hour later in a time of  1:59.97.

Ty Lang re-asserted his top position in Nor-Cal in the 100m dash as he bested 5 of the top 10 in Nor-Cal sprinters with a time of 10.69, barely edging a Merritt contender by .01 seconds.  In the 200m, Ty placed second with a time of 21.74.  Stephen Dickinson set a new personal best in the 110 hurdles, and broke the 15 second barrier with a time of 14.93 to place 3rd in the meet.  Stephen is currently 3rd in Nor-Cal in the 110 hurdles and will be competing in the Nor-Cal multi event Championships on April 20th and 21st at American River College in Sacramento.  Donavon Cunningham had a strong day in the throws as he placed 3rd in the discus with a 151” 3” and set a new personal best in the javelin by nearly 20 feet with a mark of 151’ 4”.

On the women’s side, Katie Anderson had another career day as she ran a 13.26 in the 100m; a personal best by .14 seconds.  Later in the afternoon, she set another lifetime best in the long jump with a 17’ 4.5” mark to place 3rd in a dense field of top Nor-Cal contenders.  Katie is currently in 8th position in the latest Nor-Cal rankings.  Joanna Beem also set a new personal and school record in the 3000m Steeplechase and broke the 13 minute barrier in the process with a 12:59.63.

On April 20th and 21st, Freshman Stephen Dickinson will be competing in the Northern California Multi Event Championships to be held at American River College.
