General Chemistry I involves a detailed study of the principles and calculations related to atomic structure, bonding, nomenclature, stoichiometry, gas laws, intermolecular forces, solution chemistry, thermochemistry, and solid state chemistry. Three hours of lab are dedicated to problem solving. This course meets the general education requirements for physical science with lab for COS, CSU and UC. (AA, CSU, UC) Prerequisites: CHEM 1000 or completion of one year of any high school chemistry course with lab and MATH 0980 or qualification through assessment.
