Students will learn how music helped various cultures and cultural elements persevere through adversity. Students will examine various types of music from the various cultures of America. The contributions of these cultures to the development of various musical styles will be studied with an emphasis on the oppression of certain cultures and the dominance of others. (AA, CSU, UC) Advisory: ENGL 1001 or qualification through assessment.
