Learn about the geology of Lassen Volcanic National Park during an evening presentation and a one-day field trip. The evening session will introduce the geologic setting of the Lassen volcanic center, describe its eruptive history and products, and discuss its potential hazards. The field trip will give students opportunities to study a variety of volcanic and glacial features throughout the park, as well as explore the Bumpass Hell geothermal area.

Lassen National Park Field Geology (XNH 0320) is a non-credit course that is offered through the College's extension program in a short-term lecture plus field trip format. This course is intended for students who have completed Geology of Lassen National Park (GEOL 0820) and wish to learn more. If you have not yet completed Geology of Lassen National Park please do so before enrolling in Lassen National Park Field Geology.
