Steps to Registration
How to Become a new OE student
• OE: New students who do not plan to earn an
Associate degree, a certificate, or transfer follow the OE steps (Open
Enrollment) .
STEP 1: Get a Valid e-Mail Account
All On-line Services require that you have a valid e-mail
address. If you do not have an e-mail address, you can obtain a free
one at one of the following web-sites: Yahoo,
Hotmail, Netzero,
Care2. Other free
e-mail services can be found through any search engine by entering
the keywords "Free E-mail". (College of the Siskiyous does
not endorse or recommend any particular e-mail provider, nor does
the College assume liability for damages which may be incurred by
the use of the providers shown above.) DO NOT USE SOMEONE ELSE'S E-MAIL
ACCOUNT TO LOG ON TO THE COS ONLINE SYSTEM.
STEP 2. Set up
a NAVIGATOR Account
You will need to use your e-mail address and create a password that
you can remember. Please select continue and Register
for Classes in order to input your information in the system.
Continue on until the screen reads : "You must see a COS Counselor"
STEP 3: Complete the Board of Governors Fee Waiver (BOGW)
a) Open Enrollment students may qualify for the Board of Governors Fee Waiver (BOGW), which is a form of financial aid and can waive the course fees for qualified students. Open Enrollment students do not qualify for the grants and loans through the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Check with Admissions & Registration for the most current BOGW form.
a) Online: After completing your online application,
follow the instructions to register for your classes online.
b) In Person: To register in person, present a completed
Enrollment/Registration Form to COS Weed or COS Yreka. K-12 students
must submit the Enrollment/Registration form and the K-12 Special
Admission Permit.
c) Prerequisites: To enroll in certain courses,
you’ll need to present evidence of having completed the
course prerequisites which may include taking the COMPASS assessment. COMPASS assessment is available through scheduling with the Welcome Center. Please call 530-938-5555 to schedule a COMPASS assessment appointment if you plan on taking any math, English, or reading courses.
