DSPS Student Handbook
Liaison with Community Agencies
At times, disabled students need DSPS staff to advocate on their behalf with community agencies, such as requesting disability documentation.
DSPS staff works closely with the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) Counselor to coordinate services to disabled students.
- The student meets with the DSPS staff to evaluate a situation and the need for a referral to a community agency.
- The student follows through by acting on a referral made by DSPS staff. If a student is unable to make an appointment related to a referral, he/she notifies the agency and DSPS of the inability to make the appointment.
