Employee Mini Grants

As funds are available, the Foundation provides staff mini-grants to support innovative activities that advance the College mission. The Foundation seeks to increase involvement in interdisciplinary learning opportunties for faculty and staff and support the Educational Master Plan of the College.

It is expected that proposals will:

  • Enhance the College’s ability to strengthen its programs and services.
  • Support faculty and staff development with a learning community environment.
  • Support the use of technology for enhancing the educational opportunities of students, staff and faculty.

Scholarships

The COS Foundation offers a variety of scholarships to current high school seniors planning to attend COS, continuing COS students, and re-entry students. Scholarship award amounts vary from $250 to $3,000. Applications are annually made available to the public and may be picked up from the Yreka Campus Business Office, or the Weed Campus COS Institutional Advancement Office or Financial Aid Office (both offices are located in the Student Center). Completed applications should be returned to the COS Office of Institutional Advancement, Attn: Foundation Scholarship Program, 800 College Avenue, Weed, CA 96094 by March 15 each year.

The Pension Protection Act of 2006 (HR 4) clarified and changed many of the guidelines for administering scholarships.

  • All scholarships are awarded on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis using a procedure that has been approved in advance by the Board of Directors.
  • The Foundation appoints the Scholarship Selection Committee Members.
  • Donors and related persons may participate on the committee, but are prohibited from controlling the process of selecting scholarship recipients.   Donors and related persons may not comprise a majority of the committee.
  • Selection of recipients is made solely at the discretion of the Foundation.
