SERVICESThe Department of Maintenance, Operations and Transportation is dedicated to supporting the goals and mission of the District. The provision of prompt, courteous, and effective service is our primary goal. We
perform the following duties as a matter of course:
If you have a questions or concerns about any of the above-listed services, please contact us at Maintenance@siskiyous.edu or ext. 5233.
We
also respond to a variety of immediate needs, such as:
If
you need help in a situation that requires immediate attention, please
call 5233 or submit a Service Request Form. immediately.
Additionally, we respond to non-critical services that are necessary to keep our campus running effectively and efficiently, such as:
If you need such services, please submit a Service Request Form. We will respond to your request within five working days.
FREQUENT REQUESTS WE ARE UNABLE TO FILL Often there are campus needs that fall outside of the scope of the work we can do for you. We have listed a few of the most common requests that we are unable to fill, and have listed alternative sources of help whenever possible. Security issues such as disruptive behavior in the classroom and disputes between students: We are not trained to handle these situations. As a result, we could do more harm than good. Please refer to the District's First Aid and Emergency Procedures located in every classroom by the telephone. Car trouble: Many students and staff members experience trouble with their cars - keys locked in cars, dead batteries, no fuel, etc. are difficulties that occur frequently. We are, however, unable to deal with these in an effective way. If you or a student experience any of these problems, please refer to one of the local garages or, in cases where there may be a safety issue, call the Weed Police Department. Animal control: From time to time an unleashed animal runs loose on campus. We are not trained to respond to animal control issues. Please call the County Animal Control Office at (530) 841-4028. Furniture assembly and cabinetry: From time to time, campus personnel purchases furniture that has not been pre-assembled. Others request custom-made cabinetry or shelving for their offices or classrooms. With labor costs as they are, it is normally to the benefit of the District to purchase pre-assembled furniture and shelving. Only under extraordinary circumstances, can requests for furniture assembly or cabinetry be filled. Purchasing pre-assembled furniture and shelving will eliminate this problem. Capital Improvements (remodeling, refurbishing): Maintenance staff often receive requests for capital improvements, such as installation of a new door, repositioning walls, removing existing cabinetry, etc. Please be aware that you must submit requests for improvements to buildings and grounds during annual Level I Planning sessions. Projects that are reviewed and recommended for funding by the Level III Planning Committee will be completed by in-house staff or by an outside contractor as resources allow. No capital improvement project can be completed by the Maintenance Department without direction from the Level III Planning Committee.
