Canvas FAQs

How do I log in to Canvas?
Click on the Canvas button on our home page and log in using your mySiskiyous user name and password. If you are in the mySiskiyous portal click on the Canvas icon in the upper right corner. If you need assistance, contact the Student Help Desk at (530) 938-5523 or There are also help pages for students and for faculty with additional resource links.

What training is available for instructors?
COS utilizes the Canvas LMS for all courses. Instructors may also select to use Canvas as additional support for their face-to-face courses.

Where can I get help?
If you are a student, contact the Student Help Desk at (530) 938-5523 or for assistance logging in. The Online Student Help page also contains links to Canvas Help resources.

Use of the College's Learning Management System (LMS)

COS currently requires all instructors who utilize the Canvas LMS to be Canvas Certified by the following dates:

June 30 for Fall semester
Nov 15 for Winter Intersession/Spring semester
April 15 for Summer semester

Instructors can provide evidence of Canvas certification from another entity or institution to, or they can be added to the COS Introduction to Teaching with Canvas self-paced certification course.
