Reading Lab Courses
Evaluation of Reading Skills
If you have been out of school for a while or if you want to see what your reading skills are, come to the Reading Lab to schedule an appointment for an evaluation. We are located in the Learning Resources Center next to the Computer Lab (LRC 1) .
After your evaluation is completed, the Reading Lab Staff will assist you with an appropriate Reading course to help you succeed with your course work at College of the Siskiyous. The focus areas of skill building are:
The Reading Lab Courses which focus on these skills are:
- Speed Reading
English as a Second Language (ESL)
Effective Test Taking Strategies
- READ 0861 - Basic Reading Skills
- READ 0870 - Basic Reading Skills For Beginning ESL
- READ 0871 - Basic Reading Skills For Advanced ESL
These courses are repeatable and may be taken for one-half unit or one unit of credit (one half unit = 24 in-lab hours. One unit = 54 in-lab hours).
Students enrolling in these courses need to also be enrolled in EDUC 0670 (0 units) to access computers in the Reading Lab.
