If you're motivated to improve your writing skills and boost your confidence as a writer, the College of the Siskiyous Writing Lab is the place for you.
The Writing Lab offers 20-minute tutoring sessions facilitated by writing specialists whose goal is to help you become the most effective writer you can be. These sessions are available to students composing papers for any COS course. Assistance in brainstorming, drafting, revising, editing, and documenting sources is available. To ensure that you can meet with a specialist on the day and time of your choosing in the Weed Writing Lab, stop by or call the Lab to make an appointment. Appointments can be made a week in advance. Occasionally, walk-in sessions are available. The Yreka Writing Lab only accepts walk-in sessions.
In addition to 20-minute tutoring sessions, the Writing Lab offers half unit courses in spelling, vocabulary, paragraph development, and essay development as well as access to specialized software.Important note for online students:
If you are enrolled in a purely online Etudes course (this excludes hybrid and videoconferenced courses), you have access to the Online Writing Lab (OWL) which automatically appears as a separate shell in your Etudes workspace. In the OWL, you have access to a variety of writing resources; in addition, you may submit papers for online feedback, post writing related questions to the discussion board, and send writing related messages to specific specialists. For questions about the OWL, contact the Weed Writing Lab.
