COS Performing Arts will be fully online for Fall 2020. We have some great projects to work on as a virtual ensemble building on our graduation project from last semester. Please consider participating to help keep music alive in Siskiyou county and at COS.
Jazz Band and Concert Band will both start the semester off on participating in the Virtual Burning Man Processional Band project that I composed over the summer. The composition is in four movements and has a well thought out (and outside of the box) structure which will give us the skills that we will need for the other semester projects for the ensembles.
After this project is completed we will change gears and collective record the music for the upcoming COS virtual theater production of "Love's Labour's Lost." We will be teaching everyone studio recording techniques for this project. This will be a great collaborative project to focus the rest of the semester on.
Jazz Band will switch gears and will work on a project along with the COS Vocal Jazz Ensemble and produce a virtual radio show style program. We can have fun with this with costumes and writing the script elements of the production.
Both of these projects will work great in these formats because we will not be relying on a 'regular' instrumentation. This will allow us to work with who registers and can arrange specifically for the members that we have this semester.
