The Associated Student Board (ASB) was developed to provide the students with self-government opportunities in a learning environment. It is an ideal laboratory for gaining experience in the responsibilities of leadership. Registered students are automatically members of the Associated Students of College of the Siskiyous. The Associated Student Board was first formed in the early years of the College (1960). They were first called the Student Executive Council.
Through due process as provided in a constitution, student associations shall have capable elected and appointed officials who will efficiently and effectively initiate and carry out a well balanced program to meet the needs of the total student body. Student government cooperates with and complements the ever important fundamental purpose of college education.
ASB provides a variety of activities and services on the campus. They represent the students in various campus committees. They fundraise to provide sponsorship for a variety of events. They have provided money for the New Horizon Re-Entry Program's Annual Children's Christmas Party and Scholar Athlete Awards. ASB senators have also been involved in the search for the new college president and the petition for the college smoking policy. Some of the activities ASB have been involved with are Homecoming, Halloween Murder Mystery, Islands of Siskiyous, and the infamous Dunkfest.
Their major fundraising events are running the Basketball Concessions. They also get the proceeds for locker rentals on campus, and the Student ID Card. They run a book consignment service out of the office and hope to be able to provide fax services in the near future.
The ASB office is currently TBD
