New Student Orientation - SOAR

If you are a student who is pursuing any COS certificate, AA degree, or transfer requirements, and you are new to COS or returning after two or more years, you will want to participate in SOAR (Siskiyous Orientation, Advising, & Registration). At SOAR, students will receive orientation, advising, a class schedule, and a campus tour. You must provide any high school or college transcripts prior to scheduling your SOAR session. These will be used for math and English placement. Please bring a photo ID with you to the orientation session. Please call Counseling and Student Support Programs at (530) 938-5353 with any questions or to sign up for SOAR. Each session has limited availability.

What do we do during SOAR?

During the 4 hour SOAR Day, students will:

• Meet other students
• Learn about Campus Resources & Services while on a Weed Campus Tour
• Learn about the mySiskiyous portal - and its resources
• Navigate the COS website and resources and how to find information
• Discuss Educational Goals (AA, Certificate, Transfer)
• Begin the creation of their education plan
• Schedule and register for classes
