Students registering at COS will be classified as a resident or non-resident for tuition purposes. To be classified as a resident a student must have been a legal resident of the State of California for a year and one day immediately preceding the semester in which they wish to register. You must apply for Residency prior to the first day of class. Applications for Residency submitted after the first day of class will be approved for the following semester.

For more information on establishing residency in California please download our Establishing Residency directions. If you would like to apply to be reclassified as a California resident select the Residency Reclassification Petition and submit it to Admissions and Records.
Out of state students who attended a California High School for at least 3 years and graduated from a California High School, passed the GED in California, or passed the California High School Proficency may be eligible for in state tuition.
The Oregon Exchange allows Oregon residents to attend College of the Siskiyous at a discounted rate rather than pay out of state tuition. This reciprocity agreement also includes in state tuition to eligible College of the Siskiyous transfer students looking to attend SOU or OIT.
