The Library is open on Mondays and Wednesdays for computer use and textbook access.

Fall 2020 FAQs

The ASC webpage is the best place to access updated information about ASC hours and services

Yes, the ASC is open on a limited basis on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm.

During these times, students have access to the following:

  • computers and printers
  • quiet study spaces
  • Student Help Desk
  • test proctoring (by appointment)

Maintaining the health and safety of students and staff is a top priority. In order to use the ASC, students are expected to engage in the space responsibly, by adhering to the following protocols:

  • wearing masks that cover the nose and mouth
  • checking into the ASC front desk to be assigned a workspace
  • maintaining 6 feet of physical distancing from staff and other students at all times
  • checking out of the ASC, so staff can decommission and clean the assigned workspace

No, the Yreka Campus ASC is not open; however, ASC tutoring is available remotely and laptop check-out is available on a limited basis through Basecamp HQ.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, for the safety of students and staff, all tutoring is offered remotely. The remote tutoring schedule is robust, allowing students to receive academic support for a host of subjects during a wide variety of times. To learn more, visit the COS Tutoring webpage or contact Emkay Sikora, Tutoring Coordinator at msikora@siskiyous.edu.

Yes! Test proctoring is available by appointment. To request an appointment, email asc@siskiyous.edu.

Yes! Student Success Seminars will be offered via Zoom, and they will focus on optimizing learning and wellness during challenging times. Visit the Student Success Seminars webpage for information about upcoming seminars.

Yes! A limited number of TI-84 graphing calculators are available in for student check-out. Calculators can be checked-out in the Weed ASC on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm or by appointment. Calculators can also be checked out on the Yreka Campus by appointment. A limited number of laptops are available for student check-out. Basecamp HQ is assisting in the coordination of laptop checkout. To learn more, visit Basecamp HQ.

The Canvas ASC is the COS hub of remote academic support resources. To access these resources, students can click the Canvas ASC link, and "self-enroll" when prompted. Enrollment is free and simply offers students access. From the Canvas ASC, students can access the following:

  • Schedule of remote tutoring
  • Instructions to access remote tutoring
  • Information on how to drop off a paper for feedback from a tutor
  • Schedule of, and links for, upcoming Student Success Seminars
  • Proctorio readiness resources
  • Learning resources and guides
  • Links to various COS student supports

Additionally, within the Canvas ASC, students can meet with the Tutoring Coordinator and ASC Instructor/Coordinator during their scheduled Zoom hours.

Yes! To drop off a paper for tutor feedback, please email tutoring@siskiyous.edu, and adhere to the following:

  1. The subject line should read: "Paper Review"
  2. Your paper should be attached as a .doc, .docx, or .rtf file or as a shared Google doc.
  3. The email should contain the assignment instructions.
  4. The email should contain you primary concerns about the paper: name one-two concerns/questions you have about your paper. This information will help us focus our feedback.
